Republican Wounded in Gun/Bike Accident

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon state senator has been hospitalized with an accidental gunshot wound in the knee.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports that Republican Jason Atkinson, 37, was hit while repairing a friend’s bicycle Tuesday.

Central Point police say a .38-caliber derringer was in a bag attached to the bike, and it fired when Atkinson dropped the bag.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Senator Atkinson and his family, and we know he is in the best of care at the Medford Providence Medical Center , where he is currently listed in serious condition,” said State Sen. Ted Ferrioli, R-John Day.

Not to make light of the plight of Mr. Atkinson, who I hope will recover, but it’s so damn ironic.

İlk büyük çıkışlarını Hürriyet Gazetesinin düzenlediği Altın mikrofon yarışmasında seslendirdikleri “Emrah” adlı parçayla yaptılar. Sözleri Aşık Emrah’a ait olan parçanın bestesi Cem Karaca’ya aitti. Askerlikte karşılaştığı Anadolu gerçeği yavaş yavaş fikirlerine ve düşüncelerine yansımaya başlamıştı. Emrah’la elde edilen büyük başarı , Resimdeki Gözyaşları ve Bu Son Olsun gibi hitlerle devam etti. Fakat Cem’in kafasında daha değişik bişeyler vardı. Ayrıca grubun diğer lideri olan Mehmet Soyarslan’la devamlı fikir ayrılığı içindeydiler. Sonunda Konya Ereyli’sinde yaptıkları konserle ipler tamamen koptu.

I’ve posted this before, ripped from a less-than-quality source tape I have had for years.
This one, from a recently unearthed 10″ 1/4″ reel found in KBOO’s catacomb-like tape archive room sounds much better and includes the New American Radio intro and outro.

It was ripped by my pal Devin the Radio Engineering Elf, who found it buried under 20 years of tapes with its runsheet still taped to the box. I’ll take pictures of it and have them up soon.

Again, it’s not the version of Guns! that came out on SST. It’s somewhat different in structure and tone and was a commissioned piece for New American Radio, as was Advertising Secrets, fractions of which ended up on both the similarly titled 7″ (on Eerie Records) and 1997’s Dispepsi.

Elderly woman prohibiting from photographing empty swimming pool……

…”to prevent paedophilia”

An 82-year-old woman in Southampton, UK was told she couldn’t take photos of an empty wading pool because she might be a paedophile. Because, you know, anything that children touch regularly becomes part of their souls, and if a paedophile looks at those objects, it’s just like sexually assaulting a child.

Makes me glad, as a father, to live here in the UK, where the clear-eyed, sensible view of paedophilia is doing so much to ensure the safety of my daughter from assaults by strangers (an occurrence that is so rare as to be practically nonexistent) while doing practically nothing to protect her from the people who are statistically most likely to assault her — her family, her friends’ parents, her teachers, and other people known to her, who account for the overwhelming majority of assaults on children.
