Vinyl Pajama Party Peter Bergman and Firesign Theatre Tribute
March 14, 2012Submitted for your approval, here’s a loving tribute to the late, great Peter Bergman of The Firesign Theatre on this wonderful, long-running program on KBOO, The Vinyl Pajama Party.
Consider this a show-within-a-show-within-a-show. Host Brian Combs deftly weaves various Firesign and Peter B. ephemera around yet another show where Peter appeared live in 2004, namely The Outside World with host Daniel Flessas. Peter fields calls while waxing both philosophic and nostalgic about Firesign and his long, fascinating career. Various Portland phenomenon is skewered. Also, we hear a glance back at Radio Free Oz, with a recording of Pete and David Ossman talking about the history of that ground-breaking show (from 2011), as well as some recordings of their last performance in Portland, recorded bootleg-style from the audience.
Thanks to Brian for letting me post this and be sure to check out his show, which runs every 2nd and 4th Tuesday morning, from 2am to 5:30am (Pacific time) and all over the world at kboo.fm/listen
